About AJF
The Africa Jobs Fund catalyses high-impact companies that can dramatically boost incomes for people in Africa. The fund focuses on export manufacturing and international labour mobility, venture-builds new companies, and makes catalytic investments in existing companies.
AJF is scaling rapidly and is looking for someone to run the fund's operations and build the systems needed to support that growth.
The role
You will run operations for the fund and own the deployment process, internal systems, reporting, hiring, and a substantial share of investment support. You will work closely with the partners and with Renaissance Philanthropy's finance and legal teams on structuring, compliance, and reporting.
What you'll own
- Systems that scale: deployment pipelines, diligence workflows, portfolio tracking, reporting, internal tooling, knowledge management, cost-effectiveness analysis, and deal templates.
- Hiring: finding and closing exceptional people for AJF and the ventures it backs, including running the process and selling candidates on the opportunity.
- Investment support: structuring, documentation, disbursement, and portfolio management alongside finance and legal teams.
- Fund operations: budgets, vendors, compliance, hiring logistics, travel, and funder reporting.
Who they're looking for
- High agency, sound judgement, and comfort operating with limited direction.
- Strong experience in investment and building systems for investors or philanthropies.
- Deep motivation to create large-scale income gains for workers across Africa.
- Regular, effective use of AI tools, including building AI into operational systems.
Background and experience
- 5–10 years of experience, including running operations at a venture, private equity, impact, or philanthropic fund.
- Experience with deal administration, disbursement, compliance, and funder reporting.
- A track record of building systems from scratch.
- Good analytical judgement and comfort making decisions with incomplete information.
- Experience working in Africa.
- Early-stage company experience or experience in AJF's focus areas is a plus.
