Job Description for Africa Indie Games Fund 2026 at Google Play - Africa (eligible countries)
Google Play's Africa Indie Games Fund 2026 is a $1 million fund for small independent game studios based in eligible African countries. Selected studios receive cash funding without giving up equity, plus hands-on support to build and grow their games on Google Play.
What selected studios receive
- Cash funding between 50,000 and 200,000 USD per selected studio.
- Support from Google Play to help build, port, and grow games on Google Play.
- No equity requirement in exchange for the funding.
Who should apply
- Small indie game developers with no more than 50 full-time employees.
- Companies registered in an eligible African country, including Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria, South Africa, Uganda, Zambia, Zimbabwe, and other listed countries.
- Studios with a high-quality indie game with high-growth potential.
- Games already published on Google Play or another platform such as PC, console, or other mobile platforms.
Commitment
Selected studios must use the funding to build and/or grow their game on Google Play. If the game is not yet available on Google Play, part of the funding must be used to port it to Android and publish it on Google Play. Selected games must also be made available on Google Play Pass.
Deadline
Applications are accepted on a rolling basis and close at 12:00 p.m. UTC on July 31, 2026.
