Job Description for Senior Frontend Engineer at Kamino - Remote (Remote)
About Kamino
Kamino's mission is to create liquidity and utility for every asset. We want the world's best investments to be available through the financial platforms people already trust, and we want investors to be able to borrow against what they own when they need liquidity, instead of having to sell.
Today, the most valuable assets in the world are often the least useful to own. Trillions of dollars sit in private markets, behind high minimums and holding periods that can run for years. Tokenization is starting to move these assets onto shared, programmable infrastructure, but putting an asset onchain is only the first step. To be useful, it still needs distribution, compliance, servicing, credit and liquidity.
Kamino already runs the credit and liquidity engine at scale. It is the largest credit protocol on Solana and the largest credit platform for real-world assets onchain, with more than $650 billion in cumulative transaction volume and more than $20 billion in loans originated.
Now we are building the rest of that system for institutions. Kamino recently named Yieldstreet co-founder Michael Weisz as CEO and is building a new HQ in New York, alongside the asset managers and financial platforms that will shape this market. Almost none of that market exists yet, and we intend to build it.
The Role
We are looking for a senior engineer to own and evolve the Kamino webapp — a modern React 19 / TypeScript / TanStack Start application. You will work with on-chain data, building interfaces where a rounding error or a stale value has real financial consequences. Our frontend is the surface billions of dollars flow through every day: when a user borrows, leverages a position, or provides liquidity, they are trusting our UI to be correct, fast, and honest about risk. If you like hard state-management problems, real-time data, and pixel-perfect execution in equal measure, you will feel at home.
The Ideal Kamino Engineer
We hire engineers who love their craft, work fluently with AI, and understand software deeply. Across every engineering role, we look for:
Seniority: real judgment and high mileage — engineers who have seen many systems break, and know why.
Strong fundamentals: types, memory, concurrency, distributed systems — and opinions about all of them.
Builders: people who love to build and tinker, and who ship.
Quality-oriented: unwilling to ship careless, fragile, or poorly understood code; pragmatic about balancing speed, maintainability, and security in production.
AI-native: uses modern AI-assisted tooling effectively — to move faster, understand more code, and raise the quality of testing and review.
What you will work on
Building and shipping features across the app's core surfaces: lend/borrow, multiply & leverage, kVaults liquidity, swap/limit orders, and portfolio.
Modeling complex server state with React Query and client state with Zustand, being deliberate about subscriptions, re-renders, and cache invalidation.
Working on the wallet layer: bridging Solana wallet adapters into our @solana/kit signing flow, including batch signing and multisig.
Keeping the app fast and correct under live data — positions whose LTV and leverage update on every oracle price tick, transaction previews that must reflect simulated (not worst-case) outcomes.
Translating Figma designs to pixel-perfect UI using Tailwind v4 and our design system.
Writing meaningful tests: Vitest unit tests colocated with source, and Cypress / Playwright E2E flows.
Must haves
5+ years building production frontend, with deep React and TypeScript expertise.
Strong grasp of modern React data-flow.
Strong understanding of Big-O notation and natural consideration for algorithmic efficiency in your day-to-day code.
Meticulous about detail — you notice a 2px misalignment and a number formatted to the wrong precision, and both bother you.
Comfort in a large, layered codebase and the judgment to keep it clean.
Product sense: you can reason about what a user needs to see to make a safe financial decision.
Good to have
Background in fintech, trading, or any domain where numeric correctness is non-negotiable.
Built or contributed to a design system or component library.
Experience with real-time data (WebSocket subscriptions, optimistic updates) and performance profiling.
Open-source contributions.
Interested in blockchain: no need to have spent a whole career in crypto, but a genuine interest in the domain.
Competitive advantage
Experience with Solana or other blockchains — wallet adapters, transaction building, RPC, oracles.
DeFi power-user experience.
