Job Description for Head of Remittances – Global Diaspora (UK · US · LATAM) at Scouthappy Partner - Remote
Millions of Africans abroad send more than US $100 billion home every year, yet fees remain high and the user experience difficult. We already power local payouts in over 10 African markets — the next step is to own the inbound flow from the diaspora. That’s where you come in.
As Head of Remittances, you will build and scale our new international remittances product, starting with the UK, US, and key Latin-American corridors. You’ll own the P&L, shape go-to-market, and lead a cross-functional team spanning product, compliance, ops, and growth.
What you’ll do
- Own the strategy and P&L for inbound remittances, setting the three-year roadmap, pricing model, and unit economics targets.
- Secure partnerships with banks, IMTOs, and payout providers; negotiate FX spreads and settlement terms to keep us the fastest and cheapest option.
- Lead licensing and compliance, working with Legal and RegOps to obtain and maintain MTL, EMI, or API authorizations in every market. Design best-in-class AML and CTF controls.
- Define and refine customer journeys across web, app, and API — focusing on KYC/KYB, funding flows, FX conversion, and instant payout rails.
- Drive market expansion by launching in high-priority diaspora corridors: UK, US, Canada, the EU, and LATAM — based on TAM, margin, and regulatory fit.
- Optimize money-movement rails for speed, resilience, and efficiency — targeting a transaction success rate >95% and industry-leading cost per payment.
- Own and improve KPIs: volume, customer acquisition cost, cost per delivery, and NPS. Use data analysis to drive measurable gains in customer experience and cost.
- Engage stakeholders by reporting directly to the COO. Present monthly performance updates and shape resourcing and product decisions.
- Manage the full product lifecycle — from discovery to delivery and ongoing optimization. Every release should reduce friction and delight users.
You’ll be a good fit if you have
- 7+ years in cross-border payments or remittances, with 3+ years leading a remittance product.
- Regulatory and compliance expertise in financial services products.
- Hands-on experience designing or integrating payment infrastructure.
- A track record of success in high-growth startups and fast-paced environments.
- Advanced analytical skills and a strong background in data-driven product optimization.
- Bonus: Prior experience launching or scaling “Send Money” (P2P transfer) products.
